The Dangers of Impatient Drivers Who Fail to Heed Safety Rules on California’s Highways and Roadways
Some years ago, a singer who eventually earned far greater fame and success as an actress sang the lyrics "Rushing and racing... Moving so fast, I'm forgetting my purpose" in a song called "Slow Me Down." In a way, these are ideas many California drivers should heed. They're so busy rushing and racing behind the wheel that safety gets forgotten.
When that happens and you're hurt because of it, you owe it to yourself to get in touch with an experienced San Mateo auto accident lawyer.
Certainly, speeding is one way in which impatient drivers cause harm. Another is drivers engaging in unsafe lane changes and unsafe passing maneuvers. According to a recent CBS SF report, a Saturday drive recently turned into something painful for several drivers and passengers due to unsafe passing.
The location was a two-lane road that ran through Marin County. Over time, a group of westbound vehicles became clustered together. The driver of a Corvette attempted to pass several vehicles all at once, accelerating to "a high rate of speed," according to the California Highway Patrol.
Unbeknownst to the Corvette driver, the driver of the lead vehicle intended to turn left into a dirt parking area. As the driver of that pickup truck turned, the Corvette slammed into the driver's side of the truck. All three occupants of the truck suffered injuries that required transportation to a nearby hospital. Police did not believe drugs or alcohol played any role in the crash.
In the crash's aftermath, CHP issued a statement on its Facebook page cautioning drivers to "remember to drive with caution and care. Get to where you are going safely. There’s no need to rush."
The outcome of this accident could have been worse. None of the people involved in this crash suffered critical or fatal injuries.
